Gemstone Roundtable

What is a gemstone roundtable?

Simply put, a roundtable is a group of approximately 15-25 people who partake in an evening of evaluating and purchasing loose gemstones over drinks and hors de overes. Studio 2015 Jewelry offers only the finest collectible gems that evening at some of the best prices of the year.

What happens at a gemstone roundtable?

Guests will be expected to arrive between 6:00-6:30 with beverages and mingling occurring until 6:30. At that time, all will be seated and welcomed by Tom Dougherty with an introduction and biography of the cutter along with a short presentation of the custom process. At completion of the introductory phase, the cutter will then begin passing stones around the table for examination by the clients.

If a specific stone captures a client’s eye, he/she is allowed to “dib” it and consider it for purchase. At that point, the stone will continue around the table allowing each client to view it and also claim “dibs” on it. As each person claims “dibs” on it, a record is kept of the order of “dibs” so that should a person decide against a stone, it can be passed to the next interested client.
